EUGENE, Ore. (August 1, 2007) –- The Oregon Classic presented by Kendall Auto Group has awarded
Jonathan Moore a sponsor’s exemption to participate in the tournament taking place September 10-16 at Shadow Hills
Country Club. Moore is the first of four players to be offered an exemption; the remaining three will be announced at a later date.
Moore will be making his professional debut at the Oregon Classic after an impressive amateur career. Jonathan plans to represent
the United States in the Walker Cup at Royal County Down in Ireland the weekend before coming to Eugene.
After winning the individual NCAA Championship in 2006, Moore’s remarkable summer was only beginning. He participated in the US Open
at Winged Foot and qualified for the 2007 Verizon Heritage after winning the 2006 Players Amateur. At the end of his freshman year
at Oklahoma State, Moore was rewarded with the Phil Mickelson Award as the nation’s top freshman golfer.
Moore grew up outside of Portland, OR in Vancouver, WA and at the age of 16 became the youngest champion of the Oregon
Amateur in 2001. Coming back to Oregon to embark on his professional golfing career is an ideal starting point for Moore.
“It is a dream come true to begin my professional career in my home state of Oregon. I am looking forward to competing with
the Nationwide Tour’s best at the 2007 Oregon Classic presented by Kendall Auto Group. I am very grateful to the tournament, Kendall
Auto Group, and all of the sponsors and organizers of the 2007 Oregon Classic for the opportunity and I hope to make the most of it.”
“We are thrilled that Jonathan has chosen the Oregon Classic as the starting point for what will be a promising professional career.
With his ties to the state of Oregon, he will surely have a little bit of “home court advantage,” tournament director Chris Hoff said.
“The Oregon Classic is always looking for the future stars of the PGA TOUR. As the Nationwide Tour slogan says, ‘the future is playing now’
and that definitely seems to be the case with Jonathan.”
